I What is Benin BESC certification?

According to the laws and regulations of Benin, all goods shipped to the port of Cotonou (COTONOU) or transferred to other destinations through this port must apply for an electronic cargo tracking document (BESC), whose full name is BORDEREAU DE SUIVI DE CARGAISN.

BESC is also known as ECTN, which stands for Electronic Cargo Tracking NOTE or Import Goods List in Chinese. Benin BESC (or Benin ECTN) is a mandatory certification document for exports to Benin. Failure to process it may result in the shipping company at the port of origin being unable to issue a bill of lading or the consignee at the destination port being unable to clear customs.

II How to apply for Benin BESC certification?

Benin BESC/ECTN certification application process:

The application regulations are as follows:

Each bill of lading requires at least one BESC tracking document;

Container: Each BESC tracking document can only be issued with one bill of lading (without limiting the number of containers);

Bulk cargo: Each BESC tracking document can only be issued with one bill of lading (without weight limitation);

Rolling car: Each BESC tracking sheet can only be sent to one rolling car;

The application process is as follows:

1. Please provide detailed contact information for your company, such as company name in both Chinese and English, address in both languages, telephone and fax numbers, email address, and contact person.

2. Please provide shipping information, such as how many shipments were made and the details of each shipment (20 'or 40' containers, quantity of loose cargo or rolling stock)

3. Download and fill out the Benin BESC/ECTN application form carefully

4. Our company will issue an invoice to your company to arrange the remittance. Your company remitted the money to our company's account. The invoice will specify our company's account number and other remittance details.

5. According to the regulations of the relevant authorities, the original Benin BESC/ECTN tracking form must be completed and issued within 8 working days after the ship departs from port. Late payment of fines.

6. After the goods are transported, your company needs to fill out the application form and email or fax it to our company along with a copy of the bill of lading and commercial invoice, in order to prepare the Benin BESC/ECTN draft for your company's approval. Your company must carefully review and approve.

7. After your company approves the draft of Benin BESC/ECTN, our company will send this Benin BESC/ECTN to the authorities for approval. Once the Benin BESC/ECTN is approved, no modifications can be made.

8. The original Benin BESC/ECTN document (in PDF format) approved by the authorities will be sent to your company via email. Your company needs to print out this document or forward the attachment to the consignee, freight forwarder, or shipping company at the unloading port.

9. The original copy of Benin BESC/ECTN is in quintuplicate. Our company will inform the relevant units via email on how to allocate them. Your company must strictly follow the instructions of the authorities to allocate.
