Wind turbine certification

Certification of small wind turbines

NormalTCI's world-class large-scale wind testing experts can help you ensure the safety and reliability of large wind turbines and components.

We provide compliance services for design, testing, and certification standards, ensuring that your testing projects are technologically advanced and efficient. Our expert team can provide services in the design, production, installation, and maintenance of generator sets, helping you achieve better performance, less downtime, and higher productivity.

Wind turbine type certification - design evaluation

Load assessment;

Security system assessment;

Mechanical structure evaluation;

Mechanical component evaluation (e.g. blades, gearboxes);

Electrical system assessment;

Basic assessment (optional);

Other relevant evaluations.

Wind turbine North American ETL certification

The 7-step process of ETL certification project:

1. Document review:

Review the design documents of large wind turbines, including component information, drawings, manuals, control and safety function introductions.

2. Structural inspection:

Conduct structural audits in accordance with relevant standards for wind turbines.

3. Compliance Plan:

Determine the gap from issuing the certificate. Develop a testing plan for wind turbine components and their parts. Identify key components and determine which components, if any, require additional testing or certification.

4. Component evaluation/testing/certification:

Evaluate/test/certify the components identified in step 3 that do not meet North American requirements and require further evaluation/testing/certification before they can be recognized.

5. Issue certification report:

The certification report contains detailed product and component information, which may include photos, drawings, circuit diagrams, technical parameters, and other relevant details of the wind turbine or component structure and how they comply with relevant standards.

6. Initial Factory Inspection (IFA):

During the initial factory inspection, NormalTCI inspection personnel check whether the factory has the capability to continuously manufacture the certified products described in the certification report.

7. Issue ETL certificate:

Manufacturers of wind turbines that have undergone ETL certification are authorized to affix the ETL certification mark on the turbines.

The advantages of NormalTCI's ETL certification include:

Fully comply with relevant standards;

After certification, the manufacturer is authorized to affix the ETL certification mark themselves;

After certification, there is no need for a third-party on-site inspection;

Minimize risks to the greatest extent possible;

Give customers confidence.

SmartTrack Program

Our SmartTrack program helps large wind turbine manufacturers meet on-site labeling requirements while embarking on certification tracks. This plan ensures that on-site identification qualifications are obtained as soon as possible, enabling large wind turbine manufacturers to install and focus on the certification process while installing.

The 7-step process of SmartTrack plan:

1. Document review:

Review the design documents of large wind turbines, including electrical component information, drawings, manuals, control and safety function introductions.

2. Structural review:

Conduct structural audits in accordance with relevant standards for wind turbines.

3. Compliance Plan:

Determine the measures required for on-site labeling pre-approval and the measures required for certification. Develop a testing plan for wind turbine components and their parts, specifying the further work required to obtain on-site labeling and certification. Identify key components and determine the component assessments required for on-site labeling or certification (if any).

4. Component evaluation:

Evaluate/test the components identified in step 3 that do not meet North American requirements and require further evaluation/testing before qualification can be determined. The focus is on the content required for on-site labeling qualification pre-approval, as well as other certification requirements.

5. Issue on-site labels/inspection reports:

Report for on-site inspection. This report provides a detailed description of the structural and component requirements required to achieve on-site labeling.

6. On site inspection:

NormalTCI uses the report from step 5 to verify that the installed wind turbine system is qualified, perform the required on-site tests, and attach on-site inspection labels.

7. Issue certification report:

Provide a detailed description of the evaluated and certified construction/components, including completed testing and routine factory or on-site testing required for compliance.

The SmartTrack program is a comprehensive solution for large wind turbine manufacturers, allowing them to quickly gain confidence in their wind energy products and minimize risks through the program. NormalTCI ensures that the results of pre qualification are used in all certification work and will not result in duplicate work. Pre qualification of on-site labeling reduces the risk of on-site improvement. In addition, as long as the design is the same, all the work done for pre qualification can be used for the certification process.

From on-site labeling pre-approval to final product certification, NormalTCI can provide the most comprehensive large-scale wind testing services. We have evaluated all electrical components and all types of large wind turbines for commercial wind farms.

The advantages of NormalTCI's SmartTrack program include:

Large wind turbine manufacturers do not have to make a dilemma between compliance and time to market. Now, you can have both fish and bear paw.

Risk management - can avoid or minimize the risk of high cost delays and on-site improvements caused by non-compliance with local safety regulations.

Faster listing without losing confidence.

Simplified and comprehensive process - the entire process from on-site labeling qualification pre-approval to certification.

Complete project - Based on our expertise and experience in the North American market, Normal Nuomo Testing has evaluated every component of all types of large wind turbines and qualified these components.
