1. ELV test for vehicle scrapping directive

With the continuous increase in car ownership worldwide, countries have successively introduced and implemented various legal norms on how to improve the reuse, recycling, and recovery of scrapped cars and components. In China, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has issued the "Requirements for Prohibited Substances in Automobiles", which has been officially implemented since June 1, 2014. Major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are also actively carrying out the control work of the End of Life Vehicle (ELV) directive, tracking, analyzing, and calculating the 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle) of parts and materials information from suppliers at all levels through IMDS/CAMDS, as well as managing prohibited and restricted substances.

II. Automotive Environmental and Durability Testing

NormalTCI's automotive environmental and durability testing can assist you in early detection of product design defects, thereby minimizing risks associated with warranty, recalls, and compensation losses due to such defects. Whether in the early stages of automotive component product development or during mass production, validation testing can help you effectively control and promptly identify whether product quality meets the corresponding technical specifications.

NormalTCI's main testing items for automotive environment and durability include:

Storage

Alternating temperature and humidity

Quick temperature change under power-on condition

Temperature shock

Dustproof and waterproof

Infrared light aging

Splashing with ice water

Temperature, humidity, dimensional stability, and contact or non-contact three-coordinate measurement

Operational durability

Linear/torsional fatigue

III. Testing of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) in Automobiles

VOCs, or Volatile Organic Compounds, are a significant contributor to poor air quality inside vehicles and pose a threat to the health of the occupants. To mitigate the environmental impact and health hazards posed by VOCs, an increasing number of automakers have begun to reduce the emission of VOCs from their vehicles at source. They have established technical specifications and conducted quality monitoring for materials used in automotive interiors, accessories, and auxiliary materials. NormalTCI Automotive Materials Laboratory offers VOC emission testing for materials and products, and collaborates with you to investigate VOC issues, ensuring that these issues are minimized before products leave the factory and meet the standards of the original equipment manufacturer (OEM).

The main sources of VOCs and peculiar smell in the car are:

Instrument panel;

Sun visor;

Interior ceiling;

Interior door trim;

Coat and hat rack assembly;

Luggage trim;

Sealing strip;

Seat assembly;

Carpet assembly;

Floor mat;

Steering wheel.
